market where information technology in the health field is increasing rapidly. As data becomes more of a
reliable source and laws are changed to allow data storage of documents instead of paper, this market will
only see increases in the need for cloud storage and thus there is a real ability for growth in this market as
long as EMC can continue to put forth the R&D needed to stay on top of this rapidly increasing market or
make acquisitions like Pivotal. For these reasons, EMC created the RSA information security segment
which focuses on securing access to data both from inside and outside the organizations’ network. These
products are designed to safeguard the integrity as well as the confidentiality of information throughout
its lifecycle.
Another increasing factor for moving to storage virtualization is the trend of being “green”. The cloud
reduces the number of servers and thus reduces energy consumption and this is a move investors as well
as users are supporting. This is especially true for the Asian markets where energy usage is a main
